We need to think about who how and where fora are created

Gary, thought I'd try and create groups for all those that attended or wanted to attend the meeting last night and then let them know how to start using these spaces. I set up a group for Beccles, but when I tried to create  one for Walden I got this error message:

I have set up a redirect for the following SB URL:

http://www.greenstreetmarket.co.uk/

You'll see that I've set it up so that the above URL remains constant throughout the new site. I don't know what the correct term for this is, but it was something we talked about for shortening and personalising URLs for groups. However it isn't an option as (if you try) you'll find it isn't possible to log in - so the other option (where there is no masking of the site URL) is the one we must advise.

Could I create a group for Woodbridge or would that be done elsewhere?

I think creating a group is an admin function - I've created one for you but added no image or text. I think, but I'm not sure, that if you join the group you should be able edit it...

This may sound like a stupid question but, how would I do that? To me it's not at all obvious.

Most of this is new to me too.

If you go to the 'groups' tab, click on Woodbridge (to open the group) you'll see a link saying join this group or apply to join or something sim. Do that, then I'll make you the group manager.

OK, I think you are group manager now...

I'm not sure what permissions you have though...

This is actually a single thread (or conversation as the system calls them) within the forum Transition East Discussions. I've called this thread a forum which is where the confusion is coming from... I'l rename it and also start a new thread so you can see how it is displayed.

I've been wanting to add Zero Carbon Castle to the groups but don't think that's a user driven part of the site. My suggestion is that it should be user added.

I've set you up with a group called Zero Carbon Castle  (you're also the manager of that group). The software is still a little way off, but do please have a go with it. I don't recommend setting up any Zero Carbon Castle sub-groups though as these are complicated to manage. Some of the other tools are also fairly redundant (such as the blog).

Unregulated user added groups is a difficult one as anyone can register with the site. Perhaps there needs to be more clarity about how to get a group set up... any thoughts would be good.

I have been editing content on the Downham group site but is it possible to get a caption for the picture?  - its the one with the green fields.

I don't think it can be done if the photo is a banner. Pictures in Photo Albums get captions, but not ones used as banners like this. Your only option is to edit the photo outside of Transition East - if you don't have photoshop or sim' I could do this for you - just let me know what text you want and how you want it to appear (size, font and position) and I can sort it out...
