Event in Chelmsford - anyone willing to speak about TT?
Up to Transition East Discussions
Hi all,
Met one of the organisers of this event (see below) whilst marching and chatting at the Burston Strike School Rally and they'd really like a speaker about transition towns (for about 15-20minutes). There is an offer of accomodation if you are continuing on to the big London demo on the 5th or if it's too late to travel home. I know that he has spoken to Tully, who understandably hasn't got time. I think it would be best if it someone from an Essex/South Suffolk based transition town were to speak given the local theme. It sounds like a great event.

Climate change affects us, and people in vulnerable countries are already losing their homes, crops and animals because of extreme weather.
The people of Chelmsford have a part to play in changing attitudes. What ideas do you have to influence the debate?
Please encourage your colleagues, employers, trade unions, community organisations and others to come along and make their views known.
From 7-18 December world leaders will assemble at Copenhagen under the auspices of the United Nations to try and reach an agreement on climate change. Among the issues to be discussed will be how much the industrialised countries are willing to reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases? How much are developing countries willing to limit the growth of their emissions? How is the help needed by developing countries to reduce their emissions and to adapt to the impact of climate change going to be financed? How is that money going to be managed?
The following have indicated their support for this meeting: Alliance for Green Socialism, Amnesty International, Anglia Ruskin University, ARU National Union of Students, Bookmarks, Chelmsford Cycling Action Group, Chelmsford Fairtrade Town Campaign, Chelmsford Borough Council Recycling Promotions Team, Chelmsford Labour Party, Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society, Chelmsford Star Co-operative Party, Chelmsford Liberal Democrats, Chelmsford TUC, Federation of Essex Women’s Institutes, Christian Aid, Colchester Greenpeace, Mid Essex Friends of the Earth, Green Party, Essex Wildlife Trust, Oxfam, The Centre for Environment and Rural Affairs at Writtle College, The co-operative, The co-operative bank, Thompsons Solicitors, Traidcraft, UN Association, UNICEF.
